Why This Experience Matters
Breaking down barriers, creating opportunities, and leveling the playing field for talented youth who’ve been priced out of the American dream
The Crisis in American Baseball
Something devastating has happened to baseball in America. While we celebrate Jackie Robinson Day each April 15th, the harsh reality is that
Black American participation in Major League Baseball has dropped to its lowest point since before integration. In 1991, Black Americans represented 18% of MLB rosters. Today, that number has plummeted to just 6% – and it keeps fall
The Financial Barrier
The truth is simple: baseball has become a sport for the wealthy. Travel teams, elite coaching, showcase tournaments, and specialized training now cost families $10,000-$50,000+ per year. When you’re a working family choosing between groceries and batting lessons, the choice is obvious. Meanwhile, basketball and football remain accessible through school programs and community leagues.
This isn’t just about numbers – it’s about dreams being crushed before they can even begin. Talented kids from low-income families, particularly Black American youth, are being systematically excluded from a sport their ancestors helped integrate and elevate.
The Dominican Advantage

400-500
Here’s what’s remarkable about the Dominican Republic: despite having one of the highest poverty rates in Latin America, with families earning as little as $200 per month, Dominican youth have MORE access to elite baseball training than most American kids.
San Pedro de Macorís
Baseball's Global Headquarters
San Pedro isn’t just another baseball town – it’s literally where dreams are manufactured. With more MLB academies per square mile than anywhere else on Earth, a talented Dominican kid from an impoverished family has a BETTER chance of reaching the majors than a middle-class American kid.
“A kid born in the Dominican Republic is 5 times more likely to start on an MLB lineup than a kid from the USA,
and 8 times more likely to pitch on opening day.”
Dominican Baseball Legends
The Dominican Republic has produced an astounding number of Hall of Famers and superstars
who dominate today’s game:
Hall of Fame Dominicans
Pedro Martínez
Albert Pujols
Vladimir Guerrero
David Ortiz
Juan Marichal
Today's Dominican Superstars
Juan Soto
Fernando Tatís Jr.
José Ramírez
Julio Rodríguez
Manny Machado

Dominican Baseball Legends
What if your child could train with the same coaches who developed
Juan Soto, Fernando Tatís Jr., and Pedro Martínez?
In the Dominican Republic, your child isn’t competing against kids whose parents spend $30,000 on private coaching. They’re
competing based on pure talent, heart, and work ethic – the way baseball was meant to be.
Our Mission
The Dominican Baseball Experience exists to break down the financial barriers that have excluded talented youth from baseball opportunities. We’re not just serving one demographic – we welcome families of ALL backgrounds who’ve been priced out of the American baseball system.
We Serve Families Who:
- Can’t afford $20,000+ annual travel ball fees
- Don’t have access to the “inner circle” of elite coaching
- Want their child evaluated on talent, not family connections
- Believe baseball dreams shouldn’t depend on family income
- Seek authentic opportunities, not empty promises
"In Santo Domingo, a kid from any background can walk onto an academy field and get the same chance
as everyone else. That's the way it should be."
Ready to Level the Playing Field?
Give your child the same opportunities that have produced 700+ Dominican MLB players. Baseball shouldn’t be a rich kid’s sport.
Your journey starts with an application. Your child’s dreams start with that first evaluation in the Dominican Republic.
Important Note for American Families
American citizens cannot be selected in the Dominican amateur draft. However, this experience provides elite evaluation, training, and networking opportunities that can open doors to college scholarships and other professional pathways.
